Indices were UP, then Down & finally closing mixed.
Nasdaq was the sole winner today.
S&P 500 has a much talked about "golden cross" @ close today.
Internals were positive as listed :
UP volume led by 1.06 to 1 in NYSE & 1.09 to 1 in Nasdaq
Advancing stocks led by 1.41 to 1 in NYSE & 1.14 to 1 in Nasdaq
New 52 wk highs were in the lead, 191 in NYSE & 72 in Nasdaq
Oil closed @ $98.48
Gold closed @ $1740.40
VIX closed @ 19.44

STX UP 5.72%
AMZN Down 8.76%
JDAS Down 9.74%
AMZN traded 4.35 million share AH, AMZN history has been hitting Top line but missing bottom line by a mile. Today AMZN has a miss on Top line but a beat by 124% in bottom line. I am more comfortable with higher bottom line.
AMZN was given no mention or credit for a huge beat in EPS, I have a feeling that by close on Wednesday we should find support.
CNBC genius were comparing AMZN with WMT, i dont know about you, but i have never seen AMZN in brick & mortar format.Maybe WMT is in cloud storage business also?

ReplyDeleteEarning play is very tricky, it is pure gambling. I was going to play AMZN's earning, but when market give me a 3 points gift, I decided it is best to take profit without risk any of my cash. Even if AMZN beat big time, I still could tell myself I did muscle 3 points out of it.
Reason I bought after hour is when it hit $177, I see a lot of buy orders trying to control the fall. Hopefully with funds support, this market will bounce back for you. Good luck

ReplyDeleteOk, I've had a little time to gain my bearings. I'll probably leave WPRT alone today--it needs a better correction desparately. I saw GGC down under $34 earlier and it had me interested--I see it has rebounded some now. I like APKT going into earnings. I like OCZ on this secondary dip. I'm still watching MET and RVBD for possible rebuys.
I think I'm going to keep the cash for now and see if a really good opportunity presents itself later today or this week.
