Mild pullback in all Indices....
Indices pulled back @ close by .15%...pretty good considering we are very near two year highs..
Internals of the markets were slightly negative...
Stocks which were UP included RVBD,LULU,ARUN,POT,AGU,
TCK,SOHU,IBN,MOS,M,X,SOL,SNDK.....

On a personal note,completed my printout for 2010 for Tax filing purposes.In Canada Capital Gains rules are different from US.... it is 50% taxed for all gains & 50% carryover of all Loss.You are charged same 50% if you hold for 1 day or 10 years....50% is added to your TAXABLE income.Loss can be applied against Gains only..No Loss is allowed IF you have NO gains.....
In stocks i lost 3.3% for the year....
On my short US$ & long Canadian $,I had a gain of 51.1%......I am continuing this strategy in 2011 as i expect Canadian $ to gain further against US$...
Overall i had a gain of 47.8%......
First Eight months of the year was not good for me in stocks , as markets were quite erratic until end of August.....after that it was a slow crawl back ending in 3.3% loss.

Market continues to give a clear signal that it wants to go higher.All indices closed green.
China PMI came in @ 54.4 in December vs 55.3 in November......Dec data slowed to a 3 month low...but it is being digested by Asian markets..Shanghai is Down .36% improving from previous low of almost 1% Down......Hang Seng is Down .12% after being Down .7%......

Impact of China raising interest rate by .25% ????
Saturday, China announced .25% increase in interest rates.
It was the most discussed interest rate increase in the last one month,some were speculating to be .50% & to be done earlier.So,we have less than anticipated rate of increase & came few weeks later.
Impact of .25% may last for first 15 minutes of trading ,then back to usual trading pattern.
Option players are most optimistic & @ extremely bullish level since Jan 2009,normally this means a pullback.....
VIX has been lowest @15.23 in the last 12 months,but we were lower to 10 area before that.Normally low VIX means a pullback.
Now for the good news,We are about to enter a 3rd year of a presidential term which has been consistent in last 60 years of producing a positive return for the year.Highest return was +17.7%.
So,if we add all the positive & potential short term negative...we MAY have a slight negative going into this full 5 days of trading.
BUT.....2011 will bring major re-allocation into stocks,which should propel S&P 500 into major gains...1380 area is considered attainable in next 12 months.
Our technical guru Carter Worth thinks we peak out @ 1270 area ????
In Conclusion,this week MAY give you another chance to reallocate funds into better stocks.Any weakness on an intraday basis is a buying opportunity.
2011 is going to be a stock pickers market AGAIN,so do your OWN due diligence by studying fundamentals & charts of each stocks you own or want to own.

RSI & buying decision in "bull market".....
RSI is a good tool to base your buying decision.Like any other tool you need to understand it well based on market/individual stock movement.We all have discovered that what looks good today MAY turn UGLY with market forces.
It is extremely important to know the fundamentals of each company you are trying to start a position.
Based on "bull market" TAPE, it MAY be a very good strategy to buy "strong stocks" when they are around 50......as strong stocks have a tendency to go to 70+++ but do come back to 50+ area for a rest.....
I have learned with great discomfort that "bargain stocks/sectors" have NOT done well @ all & have caused losses to many.
Those who have stayed in "bargain sectors" have seen full year @ a loss,when market is UP substantially.
We all have a tendency to call turn in stocks,but we have failed miserably in that call as "strong stocks get stronger" while "so called bargain" either languishes or keeps going down.
This year has been "tough" for me as some of my bets were "poor choice" like APWR,PALM,CREE,VMW....
Some other bets were timed poorly like AGU,AKAM,EBIX,JKS.....
It is "critical" to realize bad trading strategies, then only one can learn & reposition.Focus on losers much more than winners.Losers will erode your capital much faster & will drag down your entire portfolio/returns for the year.IF i look too hasty in my sell orders ,it is because of getting rid of something that is not working or @ best MAY barely break-even.
It takes tremendous amount of effort/luck to "recover from poor selection/bad trades"
For 2011, i have placed my bets on stronger stocks like AAPL,AMZN,FFIV,PCLN,RVBD,AUY & turnaround story of BAC.......
Also , i am planning to trade less,unless market becomes volatile AGAIN....
The moral of my trading story for 2010 is ,do not buy "speculative stocks" & stay with winners plus think long term in this bull market......

Market ready to take off AGAIN.......
Indices are @ highs of the year.....
Option Expiry put a break on all big movers.....
S&P 500 stayed near highs for the last 5 trading days.....
I am expecting next 3 weeks to have a strong UPWARD bias.....
There is a very good chance that S&P 500 could go anywhere between 1277 to 1300 area....
There is a need for hedge funds,High Frequency Traders,mutual funds to reallocate funds from new contribution & Bonds/Treasury into stocks......
Even the most skeptics are "kind of QUIET" these days...not uttering a word about "being BEARISH"
Prechter is hiding, as he has been DEAD WRONG on everything he said 12 months ago.....his wave theory must be in REVERSE..it is sad to see that someone who claims to be "technically oriented" cannot SEE a straight line UPWARD sloping TAPE ????
Now the question IS......?
How to position for next 12 months ?
I do believe, that whatever has worked in the last 12 months should work even better for next 12 months...which means Technology......
As this a "major bull market"..you need to go with winners...anything which has struggled in the last 12 months needs to avoided......
I also believe that Gold is poised for another run towards $1500.......so gold stocks in a portfolio may not be a bad idea...as North Korea has a habit of causing panic......
Banks /Insurance stocks are also set to benefit from rising interest rates as their spread makes them more profitable..so lending is set to resume now.....
Make sure that you go with the leaders in any sector NOT laggards.......
For some, 2010 has NOT been profitable because they were stuck in their narrow focus...while broad market was running away.....
As for technicals & RSI...it is to be adjusted now to Buy @ 50 + as they represent strength & normal pullback..do not attempt to buy anything below 50..let them come UP to 50 minimum...
Different markets needs different strategy...in strong bull market,you stay with what has worked and do not trade ....all in a broad portfolio.....
You can tell , that i have gradually adjusted to a "different approach" & will stay that way in 2011.......
IF 2011 is going to be UP another 20%..means S&P 500 @ 1500...you need to be an investor NOT a trader.......
Economy worldwide is on an UP slope ,even in US we are looking healthy now.....
US has gone into a "major transformation" with both Republicans & Democrats working together for improving their economy...their "sense of urgency & decision making" has impressed me big time in the last 72 hours......

Reason for negative TAPE for 3 days is "overbought condition","profit taking for year end" & "Option Expiry"
Generally when TAPE is negative for 3 day's,technical rebound is to be expected.
Internals of the market were as follows :
Down volume led by 3 to 1 in NYSE & 2 to 1 in Nasdaq
Declining stocks led by 19 to 10 in NYSE & 15 to 10 in Nasdaq
These are NOT extremely negative numbers, BUT in a bull market ,it may be enough to get a technical rebound....
Many stocks have come down substantially in the last 3 day's,so buying on weakness may not be a bad idea.

Nasdaq @ 3 yr HIGH..sign of things to come....
Nasdaq has jumped to 3 yr high while S&P 500 is @ 27 month high.....

S&P 500 headed to 1300 area..quite possibly !!!!
S&P 500 & entire market turned around in a big way with internals extremely positive.Why do i focus so much on internals ,because it is showing the "real strength" of this market.
Many sectors are making new highs be it tech,retail,autos,restaurants,base metals or gold.
This market has the trapping of a "major bull market" like 1998 -2000.....
All those skeptics of this market like Prechter,Rosenberg,Kass,Adami,Roubini are all looking "extremely challenged" in their ability to either see or predict the market direction.....
We had all the reason to go down 300 points with weakest jobs report...BUT we closed green ???
Many HFT & hedge funds decided to wait out the disaster of jobs report till Monday to catch low low prices....BUT they will all be a buyer @ high high prices on Monday.....
YES...i expect Monday to be a "very strong day"......
So..IF you have done most of your buying by Friday.....you will look pretty good on Monday..
Those of you who stayed put ,will also be rewarded on Monday.....
SO...the bigger question IS ????
How high S&P 500 CAN go in this "run for the roses".......
As RSI is @ 62.63..there is lot of room to run...RSI can easily head towards 78 area.....
Translating into S&P 500 numbers,i will not be surprised to see 1300 area in this run.....
1300 target,closed @ 1224.71.....potential lift off of 76 points or another whopping jump of 6.2%..
Some of you alway's WAIT for IBD to give confirmation of any rally...well that has NOT worked well @ all..you have missed buying stocks @ low of the day while IBD announced "market under correction"
SO..all IBD followers will also pile in to buy @ new S&P 500 high on Monday......in some case like solar stocks they will be buying @ 20% higher????
The point of IBD reference is that in a strong bull market you are better off rotating from extended stocks like NFLX @ its peak to stocks in beaten down stocks like Solar & Gold???
Some stocks like FFIV,RVBD,AAPL,AMZN,BIDU,PCLN have not gone too far from their recent highs........some actually made new highs while IBD was in a PANIC mode & suggesting sell sell sell......
SO..try & understand this market ..it is a strong bull & going much higher...
NOW..it is year end performance for HFT/Hedge funds/Mutual funds/Private equity..they will all pile IN........
SO stay put in good stocks even when they are resting above 50 DMA.........sooner than later ,they will take off also....

S&P 500 closed @ 1221.53.......NICE !!!!
S&P 500 closed @ 1221.53 which is 5.55 points away from high of 1227.08.....
RSI is @ 61.68
Friday Jobs report is due @ 8.30 AM,expectation is 140K headline number & 153 K private jobs creation.....we have not met the expectations yet in many months, coming short each time.
I have a feeling again that numbers MAY be shy of estimates especially in 153 K private jobs area.......
Markets have risen sharply recently,so a pause may be due......
On top of that Guy Adami is saying we blast through resistance of 1227.08,as Adami has never been right for 18 months......how can he be right this time...so there is my contrary indicator....
Stocks which were UP 3% or more included JKS,SOL,FNSR,TCK,LEN,JDSU,STP,BAC,EBIX.....

Strong close in all indices...NICE !!!!
Indices closed UP 1.64% to 2.27%.....
S&P 500 closed @ 1206.07...this close is interesting because,many pundits on CNBC only yesterday, predicted no more than 1190 in any rally...Adami prediction was well below 1150 after a brief stop @ 1170 area ????
Internals of the market was strong.
Volume was above average in S&P 500/Nasdaq but highest in Dow.
Jim Cramer is advocating taking profit in many high fliers,which is very good suggestions for those who do not monitor market closely or not aware of improving fundamentals in some business.
