About market, TAPE reacted to sanctions against Russia which was affecting their currency which slumped 30% in a day. Market erased most of the losses while Nasdaq was the strongest index with a green close. Banks & airlines were weak. Hopefully Tuesday will be a better day for most indices.

US stock market in recovery mode.....

 US stock market may have discounted just about everything.

First it was COVID-19 and its many manifestations...

Second it was a major shutdown of world economies..

Third spiraling cost of just about everything

Fourth Mighty Fed wants to control Inflation

Fifth Russia trying to take over Ukraine

Sixth West & Russia on collision course to control everything from Russia

I do think most of the above have entered an end game not to far away.....

World economy is slowly ratcheting UP

Cost are coming down IF you can believe it...look @ lumber and maybe Oil has seen its peak also, Gold lower...gold & silver stocks are not looking healthy....

Even technology stocks have found solid support...some are heading higher think BLOCK

YES..it will be a slow grind in near term...because Fed has to do something in few days...will it be .25 basis or 50 basis...my bet 50 basis will be greeted with a strong rally...then a wait for 2 months for another hike....while we make up lost ground....

Please look @ your portfolio closely, it is looking dicey on Wall & Broad...be well diversified with restart stocks....they are ready and able to vroom vroom hard

World is opening up for travelers, most restrictions are gone and / or are on their way out

About market, TAPE reacted to politics of US vs Russia on Ukraine situation. Reaction was muted as this was in the news for a while. This TAPE remains very difficult @ its worst very bearish & on oversold bounce brings optimism. We closed very very close to recent lows. We are all set for an oversold bounce.

US stock market in full blown bear market....

 US stock market is giving every signal that " all is not well "

Nothing matters these days :

10 year yield UP, market goes down

10 year yield goes down, market goes down

Earnings bad, stock goes down after being down 50%

Earnings good, stock goes down after being down 40%

Ukraine has become " center of all international tension " and market goes down on positive or negative development....there is no oil there or can it disrupt international trade in any way....but market has made it end all and be all issue.....a sure sign of bear market...nothing matters.....

World economy is racing back to normalcy, vaccine requirements being pushed out, planes are flying, factories are humming, trucks and containers are moving...but we keep going down.....

Famous chip shortage is another mystery after 2 years of COVID-19...does not make sense on lowered Auto production worldwide for 2 years.....

Once we complete this " bear cycle " and turn UP, none of the issues will matter....nobody will even mention Ukraine or Chip shortage...

SO keep your focus on your fundamental & technical analysis of each company in your holdings...that is all which matters in end....

Be ready to buy when downward pressure is @ maximum or reshuffle your portfolio to better mix....

YES...all bear markets do end and they become very painful in the end...which IS just about NOW...

About market, TAPE continues to digest yield increase and building support @ the same time, we may be ready to start moving UP gradually. So far we have not violated lows from that famous Monday, which is a good thing. Some stocks are showing relative strength and they belong to many sectors and should be bought.

US stock market in trouble.....

 US stock market on Friday gave a very troubling picture.....

Excuse was Russia, but it reflected more of its own negative slant...

Technically speaking, we are on a troubling downward slope

Nasdaq is the first major index which is "staring @ Death Cross "

Nasdaq has come down a long way from strongest index to showing

most technical deterioration......

RUSSELL 2000 is showing death cross......small cap in real trouble

TAN / Solar stocks also showing Death Cross

On the strength side, nobody should be surprised that XLE is making new 8 year high, Energy stocks keeps on making new all time highs, largely ignored by " smart crowd"

SO...there is much more room to go UP in XLE

RSI wise XLE is sporting a very healthy 72.00...more room to run to 80++++

TAN / Solar is showing weakest RSI @ 39.78

Second most strong RSI of 55.09 is shown by JETS, airlines ETF

XLF showing 3rd strongest RSI @ 53.25

Nasdaq showing 2nd weakest RSI @ 40.80

As one can clearly see that there is a " strong message from TAPE "

Never fight the message of market when it is so clear cut....

It will be very difficult to make money in this type of TAPE unless you are in right sector and in right stocks, first may be easy after the fact, BUT stock selection requires deep study of fundamentals & technicals....

Do not be complacent, when market is proving you wrong, please accept and make necessary changes.

US stock market in higher interest rates.....

 US stock market is entering a new era of higher interest rates in few days.

Starting in March stock market will face a new challenge of an increase of 50 basis points in Fed funds rates, impact of this will be felt in many ways :

Higher Prime rates

Higher Mortgage rates

Higher payments on may line of credits / interest rates tied to prime.

Higher monthly payment on all borrowing will curtail spending

Stock market will go in ICU again....

Stock market hates uncertainty in any shape size or form especially higher payments for most.

Corporate profits will be impacted with lower Sales on many front

Corporate borrowing cost will jump

All in all not a minor blip

US stock market action recently is giving every indication that go go days of 2020 is long gone, buy and hold may not work.

US stock market has changed, lot of jitter and lot of pain for participants.

US stock market will require a " new skill set " to navigate through frequent volatility

2020 bad habits may not go so easily as it was so simple to go with the flow and quadruple your money...

Current market environment is such that losing money may be a recurring phenomenon....

Higher interest rates which may jump again in May leaves little time for error or rebuilding equity.

Expect a very difficult first 6 months of 2022

You do have few choices to deal with new and difficult US stock market :

Reduce exposure by @ least 50%, 25% exposure is recommended

Try to be nimble, go for quick singles and wait for another opportunity.

Completely stay out of stock market until October of 2022, which may present a very nice entry point.

Based on the above choices, IF you stay in even with less exposure, do not look @ bargains, look for restart of economy stocks in a well diversified format.

IF your selection does not make you money in 1 week, then you have to start all over quickly with different set of stocks....

 This was among the wild week which I have encountered since 1999, Jobs data was well above expectations and all previous jobs numbers were revised UP, a total reversal of employment picture. Bond yield jumped to highest level to justify 2 hikes in March & May.

S&P 500 @ 4500.53, high 4539.66, low 4451.50

RSI @ 45.97

CMF @ 0.059

Internals were :

UP volume led by 1.28 to 1 in NYSE & 2.60 to 1 in Nasdaq

Advancing stocks led by .88 to 1 in NYSE & 1.79 to 1 in Nasdaq

Net new lows were leading by 318 in NYSE & 298 in Nasdaq

VIX Down 4.64% @ 23.22

Oil @ $92.31

Gold @ $1807.80

Canadian $ @ .7238

About market, TAPE was in freefall thanks to FB earnings which took entire technology sector down along with other other stocks. AH AMZN & SNAP stole the show with their earnings reports showing huge gains. 830 AM it is all about jobs report which is expecting 165K which may be another miss. This market is extremely jittery and is working on emotions and overreaction not an ideal investing or trading environment. Have your own game plan and execute without guidance from any guru.

About market, TAPE scored its 4th UP day @ close, internals were weak. AH FB slammed the rally brake by missing and guiding lower, 42 analysts had a buy on FB thus a stunning reversal & down action in FB as much as 23%. SNAP, TWTR also went down sharply. AH Futures are down 342 in Nasdaq, could be the-worst carnage in tech land on Thursday.

About market, TAPE went UP 3 day's in a row and closing @ high of the day. Earnings were strong from GOOG with 20 to 1 stock split, PYPL was the loser of the day taking down SQ, AFRM in AH. Most technology stocks were UP in celebration of GOOG earnings. Do not forget to do some selling in this strength.
