US stock market to rally despite Fed Hawkish talk....

 US stock market has paid its dues of minimum of 11 months of base building in S&P 500 and maximum 12 months in Nasdaq.

Technology stocks like DOCU has been slumping for 15 months

PLTR has been slumping for 22 months

CHWY has been slumping for 24 months

NVTA has been slumping for 25 months

I am sure you get the picture of how long and painful this slump has been

COVID-19, WAR, Hyper inflation, highest Interest rates in decade has inflicted unbearable pain for many, PAIN was one of the objective of Fed......

Since we have gone through many economic challenges as listed above, US stock market will not slump with any Fed hawkish speech or policy statement because its all baked in.

When I look @ my universe of sectors / index 7 out of 10 are behaving technically strong, all above 50 & 200 DMA, first time in a long time....

When in doubt always look for how internals are behaving as NOISE is loudest near lows or breakout

We are on the verge of a major breakout in many many sectors which I am going to highlight below.

DOW is the strongest near breakout

RUSSELL 2000 , TAN, XLE, XLF, XLB, JETS are all above 50 & 200 DMA.

When I look @ RSI following are displaying strength :

DOW             71.21

XLB              69.45

XLF              67.32

TAN             64.87

JETS           63.90

Nasdaq       55.04

As you can see Nasdaq is the weakest of all even after 2 years of slumping action, lot of room to outperform in short order.

Please look @ your portfolio and see where they stand in terms of strength or weakness.

I have jacked up my technology exposure big time as I am expecting it to play catch up.

Message of US stock market....

 US stock market is confusing many " news driven " traders....

News has been terrible in past few days....

FTX collapse......and market gave a big yawn

Fed Bullard trumpeting 5% to 7% interest rates....and US stock market said...IGNORE his predictions...YES market closed higher.....

SO message of the market IS

Trade on fundamentals of each stock....

Stock market is a discounting mechanism....may have discounted more than what traders are ready for...

US stock market has been in a downward spiral for last 23 months based on averages.....for Technology stocks....it is more like 30 months since it peaked....

In the end TAPE matters NOT NEWS of the hour

SO what is behaving better than in this " news driven market "

In my universe 3 sectors are looking very good based on moving averages

IF you can believe it....DOW is a runaway success...above both 50 & 200 DMA

TAN / Solar is also above 50 & 200 DMA...hated by many, but keeps outperforming

XLE...Yes Energy stocks are also above 50 & 200 DMA....many predicting It Is going lower

Interestingly in my universe of 8 sectors all are above 50 DMA....a rarity ....

Nasdaq & IWM / Russell 2000 are weakest as of Friday's close....for those who want to know Nasdaq RSI is 54.05 IWM Is 55.59

As you can see with my analysis most sectors are behaving much better, thus It Is prudent to buy stocks in each sector who are the-best of breed...

Like it or NOT....market wants to go higher irrespective of Fed's aggressive policy, may be just may be, we may be looking @ last of the aggressive rate hikes by worlds Central Banks...my theory of course...

Strength of US stock market.....

 US stock market came roaring back on slightly better than expected CPI....

YES...US stock market was oversold, was looking for an excuse to bounce

BUT more significant could be development in Russia Ukraine war

Also China is relaxing zero tolerance for COVID-19 cases

SO...we have TRIFECTA of most positive news in a minimum 1 year timespan

Celebration by market for 2 days is more than justified

NOW..I am looking @ internals of this market which is highlighting again, what is working and what IS lagging....

Very very interesting read on the state of this TAPE, never ever thought that I will live to see that after 2 strong days of rally, Nasdaq will be the showing relative weakness and weakest in my universe, not only that world famous S&P 500 from which everything is compare or measured with or against for relative performance will be second from bottom.

How the investing world has changed needs to be noticed and noted down....

BUT Wall Street has many yard stick to be measured against / with, our world famous 50 DMA & 200 DMA, there again an interesting set of strength can be seen.....

Strongest is XLE energy stocks

Weakest is Nasdaq, SOX, JETS

Next set of strength lies in DOW, Russell 2000, TAN & XLF

Message of the market still IS.....Nasdaq has passed its prime and showing in weakest performers list TWICE in key measures....

BUT DOG of current market NASDAQ may surprise everyone in next 12 months......proves market is NOT an exact science....

SO...when you look @ your portfolio, please factor some of the current strength & weakness.

Market has slumped for over 2 years for technology stocks and almost 2 years for all other sectors....

TIME to be HOPEFUL AGAIN for next 12 months.....

About market, TAPE closed UP near high of the day. Internals were positive. Technology stocks were strong. After close earnings were mostly downbeat. Even yields were UP and Technology stocks defied common wisdom. Inflation number will take center stage to set the tone of this market going forward.

US stock market of 2021-2022.....

 US stock market has been testing patience, strategy, expertise & financial well being of many traders / Investors alike.

It has been a constant relearn process with no end in sight....

March 2019 world was made aware of COVID-19

WHO was slow to react along with entire world.

CHINA was the first nation to react / act on this menace.

CHINA was not taken seriously @ first and it was dubbed " overreaction "

Majority of world ignored the seriousness or financial impact of this new challenge

Some are still in a state of disbelief / denial after almost 4 years...

Personal belief set aside, COVID-19 has altered entire world & its population in more than one way...

Some faced death worldwide 6.6 million....

Some escaped death after suffering traumatic "corona attack " 632 million

These are documented numbers.....

We all are aware of new terminology " Lockdown / shutdown " now very well

CHINA is still shutting down many cities periodically....

With shutdown / lockdown brought many challenges to personal life of entire world

Economic impact has not been documented yet as we are still trying to recover from this ongoing changing variations...

Except for world war 1 & 2 ...I do not recall any event which comes close to COVID-19 issues

Many chose to retire from 9 to 5 grind

Many corporations sought assistance from many governments

Many Industries were shutdown

Many Corporations balance sheets became challenging

Inflation roared UP due to shortages

A war started.....

Central Banks were forced to to tighten money supply and raise interest rates furiously.....

This is where we are today.....

I am surprised that Stock market worldwide is not " way lower " considering all of the above challenges for almost 4 years and counting.....

Interest rate shocker is the last thing this world needed.....in my humble opinion....now we are playing with " fire "

Impact of 7% Mortgage rate in USA is going to take its toll when everyone was trying to take 5th vaccine plus high dose of Flu shot.....

Irrationality of high interest rates is going to weaken many portfolio & net worth further....

No wonder Stock markets worldwide are so jittery.....news driven day to day....

Based on everything which I have gathered nothing will change in a meaningful manner until Fed reverses its "hawkist stance "

SO...we all wait & suffer more and more.....

About market, TAPE was on a wild ride after 2 PM Fed statement & Q&A session. Fed raised interest rate by expected 75 basis with a statement change which brought buying push, @ Q & A Fed Chief clarified the change in fed statement which brought instant selling and closed @ low of the day.
